What is a Pointe Group?

June 10, 2026

For many people, Sunday morning is the only time they connect with a church. You show up, you worship, you head home. It’s not a bad thing. But it can also mean you’re around the same people every week without ever really getting to know them.

Pointe Groups exist to close that gap. They are North Pointe’s small group structure, and they are the most direct path from attending on Sunday to actually belonging to the community. If you’ve wondered what they are, how they work, or whether they’d be right for you, here’s an honest look.

What the Pointe Groups actually are

A Pointe Group is a smaller gathering of people from North Pointe who meet together regularly, usually in someone’s home. The size is intentional. Smaller groups create space for real conversation in a way that a Sunday service simply can’t.

Most groups share a meal or snacks, spend time talking through Scripture or a faith-related topic, and pray together. But the structure is relaxed. The goal isn’t to run through a checklist. It’s to create a setting where people can show up as they are and connect.

What happens when you’re there

Picture a living room. Maybe 8 to 12 people sitting together. Someone opens with a question or a passage from Scripture. People respond honestly. Some share what’s going on in their lives. Some ask questions they’ve been carrying around. Some just listen.

There’s no performance. No pressure to say the right thing or have the right answer. The conversations tend to go places that Sunday mornings don’t have room for, the quieter parts of faith, the hard weeks, the real questions.

Prayer at the end usually reflects what the group just discussed. It feels less like a formality and more like a natural continuation of the conversation.

Who Pointe Groups are for

Pointe Groups aren’t only for people who have been at North Pointe for years. They are specifically designed to be an on-ramp for people who are newer to the community and looking for a place to belong beyond Sunday mornings.

You don’t need to have your faith figured out to join one. Many people in Pointe Groups are still exploring, still asking questions, still working through what they believe. That’s not a disqualifier. In many ways, it’s exactly the point.

Why smaller groups matter

There’s something that happens in a smaller setting that doesn’t happen in a larger one. People learn each other’s names. They remember what was shared the week before. They notice when someone is missing.

That kind of consistency builds trust over time. And trust is what allows people to show up honestly rather than just showing up.

Faith was never meant to be lived in isolation. The early church didn’t gather only in large assemblies. They also met in homes, shared meals, and walked through life together. Pointe Groups are a modern reflection of that same instinct.

How to find out if there’s a group for you

If you’re interested in joining a Pointe Group, the easiest first step is to ask someone on a Sunday morning or reach out to North Pointe directly. Groups are organized in ways that make sense for people’s seasons of life, locations, and schedules.

You don’t have to commit to anything permanently to find out what it’s like. Showing up once is enough to get a feel for it.

If community is something you’ve been looking for and haven’t quite found yet on Sunday mornings alone, a Pointe Group might be the next step.
